OASIS in the desert
Several centuries ago, the tribe AÎt Sahel settled down in these palm gardens along the banks of the Oued Drâa. For many generations they lived from the proceeds of the date palms and olive trees. To date, this palm garden is still traditionally irrigated and cultivated.
When around 1985 the first desert tourists in the deep South of Morocco appeared to discover the pristine Sahara, Mahjoube, a highly respected member of the tribe Aït Sahel, decided to start a simple camping in this paradise-like garden.
Today this beautiful garden, complemented by tamarisk, eucalyptus, mimosa, oleander, and many other desert plants, offers an attractive and authentic environment in which a small hotel, a few bungalows, and the original campsite are nestled.
